Mazda Taps CATL to Accelerate Rollout of Electrified Model

Mazda is pushing the boundaries of electric mobility by teaming up with the world’s leading battery manufacturer, Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited (CATL).

The Mazda EZ-60 is the second electrified model co-developed with Changan and symbolizes the brand’s renewed commitment to sustainable innovation in the Chinese automotive market.

The Mazda EZ-60 is a stylish, midsize SUV built with electrification at its core.

At the heart of the EZ-60 lies CATL’s cell-to-chassis (CTC) architecture, which eliminates the traditional battery pack casing and mounts the cells directly into the vehicle’s structure.

Performance in the EZ-60 reflects Mazda’s traditional “Zoom-Zoom” DNA, even in its electrified form.

Mazda is expected to price the EZ-60 competitively in the Chinese market to go head-to-head with the likes of BYD Song Plus EV, Tesla Model Y, and the XPeng G6.

The Mazda EZ-60 is scheduled to launch in Q3 2025 in China, with pre-bookings expected to open by August 2025.
