Diamondhead EV Motorcycle: Ola Electric on Friday unveiled its most ambitious product yet — the Diamondhead electric motorcycle, priced at around ₹5 lakh. Positioned as a performance-oriented EV designed for commuting, touring, and long-distance riding, the Diamondhead marks Ola’s aggressive push into the global two-wheeler market. Deliveries are expected to begin in 2027, underscoring the company’s long-term vision of becoming a global EV leader.
Unveiling the bike, Ola founder and CEO Bhavish Aggarwal said the model represents a “next level” of biking. “Our mission is to take biking beyond India and make it a global phenomenon,” he said.
Indigenous 4680 Battery Integration
A major highlight of the launch was Ola’s announcement of indigenously developed 4680 battery cells, which will be integrated into two key products — the S1 Pro Plus electric scooter and the Roadster X Plus motorcycle. The batteries, developed at the company’s 110-acre Gigafactory, are expected to enhance localisation and reduce reliance on imports.
Aggarwal also showcased a prototype motor free of rare earth metals, positioning it as a breakthrough in sustainable EV manufacturing. Deliveries of the updated models will begin post-Navaratri 2025.
Refresh in Scooter Line-up
In addition to the Diamondhead, Ola refreshed its scooter portfolio. The company unveiled the S1 Pro Sport, priced at an introductory ₹1,49,999 (ex-showroom), with deliveries scheduled from January 2026.
Ola claims the scooter delivers 16 kW of peak power and 71 Nm torque, accelerating from 0–40 km/h in just 2 seconds, with a top speed of 152 km/h. Aggarwal said the S1 Pro Sport “offers double the performance of rivals in its segment” while retaining affordability.
The company also slashed prices of existing models to strengthen competitiveness. The S1 Pro Plus will now retail at ₹1,69,999 (down from ₹1,99,999), while the Roadster X Plus is priced at ₹1,89,999 (down from ₹2,24,000).

Rising Competition in EV Two-Wheelers
Ola’s launch comes as competition in India’s EV two-wheeler space intensifies. Bajaj recently launched the Chetak 3001 at ₹99,990, while Hero MotoCorp introduced the Vida VX2 with flexible battery ownership options. TVS expanded its iQube line with the ST variant, offering a 212 km range, and Ather rolled out software innovations such as “magic twist braking.” Ultraviolette launched its futuristic Tesseract scooter, while Royal Enfield is gearing up for its first electric motorcycle.
Despite being a market leader, Ola has faced hurdles. According to Vahan data, Ola’s registrations between January–July 2025 stood at 1,33,134 units, a sharp 50.8% decline from 2,70,346 units during the same period in 2024. The dip follows widespread consumer complaints, warranty-related expenses, and glitches in its registration process.

Building Future Readiness
To regain momentum, Ola outlined plans to expand its Hypercharger network to 10,000 units by 2026, targeting key urban and intercity routes. The company also unveiled MoveOS 6 software, offering new features such as adaptive cruise control, blind spot alerts, voice commands, and multiple ride modes.
Aggarwal said Ola is focused on scaling “both products and infrastructure in parallel” to accelerate EV adoption in India. He added that the company’s homegrown battery cells will power not just scooters and motorcycles but also energy storage systems, three-wheelers, and drones.
