Mahindra Vision X Unveiled: Mahindra Auto, one of India’s leading SUV manufacturers, has unveiled the much-anticipated Vision X Concept SUV at the Freedom NU event in Mumbai, Maharashtra. This marks the first public reveal of the Vision X, a bold new design study that takes Mahindra’s SUV language in a fresh, futuristic direction.
Unlike the traditionally boxy and muscular silhouettes that define Mahindra’s lineup, the Vision X adopts a smoother, more aerodynamic form. However, the SUV doesn’t compromise on strength—it projects an understated muscularity, blending futuristic curves with rugged proportions. Among the four new concept SUVs revealed at the event—Vision T, Vision S, Vision SXT, and Vision X—this model stood out as the most forward-looking.
Positioned in the Sub-4m SUV Segment
Mahindra is positioning the Vision X Concept within the B-SUV (sub-4m) category, signaling its ambitions for the highly competitive compact SUV space. The design sets it apart from its siblings, particularly the boxier Vision S, with its sleek and aerodynamic silhouette.
The SUV is built on Mahindra’s new NU IQ platform, a modular architecture that underpins all four concepts showcased at the event.
Distinctive Exterior Design
At the front, the Vision X features a split LED headlamp setup. Slim DRLs sit at the top, while vertically stacked LED projector elements flank a bold, oversized grille. The grille showcases an X-shaped colliding pattern, symbolizing the SUV’s identity, with the Mahindra Twin Peaks logo placed above. This badge positioning suggests that the Vision X could debut first as an ICE-powered model before transitioning into electrified options.
The SUV’s side profile is defined by a clamshell bonnet, with its shut line running seamlessly into the connected LED tail lamps. Other highlights include flush door handles, floating roof effect, roof rails, thick C-pillars, squared-off wheel arches, gloss-black cladding, and large dual-tone alloy wheels, all contributing to its futuristic yet rugged stance.
At the rear, the Vision X boasts a split roof spoiler, a striking connected LED light bar, and a sporty bumper with vertical reflectors. The bumper design also eats into the tailgate area, giving the SUV a planted and aggressive look.

Mahindra Vision X Futuristic Cabin and Tech
Inside, the Vision X adopts a futuristic multi-layered dashboard design with no visual split between the driver and passenger areas. Twin 12.3-inch digital displays—one for infotainment and another for instrumentation—dominate the cabin, echoing design cues seen in Mahindra’s BE 6 Concept.
The floating center console is clutter-free, featuring twin cupholders, while the gear shifter may be integrated into the steering column. The SUV is equipped with a double D-cut steering wheel, which appears to be backed by a head-up display (HUD).
Other premium features may include dual-zone climate control, with individual adjustment screens integrated into trapezoidal housings on the dashboard.

Engine and Market Prospects
The Vision X is expected to evolve into a production-ready SUV in the coming years, with Mahindra likely to retain most of the striking design elements. Reports suggest that the model could be launched with both petrol and diesel engine options, paired with manual and automatic gearboxes.
Much like the BE 6, whose production version closely mirrors its concept, the Vision X could set the tone for Mahindra’s next-generation compact SUV portfolio. By blending futuristic design with ICE practicality, the Vision X aims to redefine the sub-4m SUV space in India.
