Vauxhall Frontera Electric: Vauxhall has expanded its Frontera Electric lineup with a new Extended Range model that offers up to 253 miles on a single charge, making it one of the most practical and affordable electric crossovers in the UK market today. Priced from £27,495, the new variant brings a bigger 54kWh battery, delivering a notable 67-mile range boost over the standard model.

More Miles, Same Powertrain

The Extended Range Frontera Electric swaps the standard 44kWh battery for a larger 54kWh unit, which helps increase range from around 186 miles to a WLTP-certified 253 miles. Despite the battery upgrade, the electric motor remains the same — a front-mounted 111bhp (192lb ft) unit. That translates to a 0–62mph time of 13 seconds and a top speed of 88mph.

Charging performance also holds steady, with support for 100kW DC fast charging, enabling a 20–80% top-up in just 28 minutes.

Competitive Pricing, Potential Grant Eligibility

Coming in at £27,495, the new Frontera Extended Range remains well under the £37,000 limit required for eligibility under the UK government’s new Electric Car Grant (ECG). While Vauxhall hasn’t yet confirmed whether the Frontera qualifies, its mechanically identical cousin—the Citroën e-C3 Aircross—has already been approved for the £1,500 incentive.

This suggests the Frontera Electric could soon be added to the grant list as well, making the car even more attractive to value-conscious EV buyers.

Full Frontera Lineup: EV and Hybrid Options

With this new variant, the Frontera Electric now comes in two electric powertrain options:

  • Standard 44kWh model – from £23,995
  • Extended Range 54kWh model – from £27,495

For those not ready to make the full switch to electric, Vauxhall also offers two mild-hybrid petrol versions:

  • 99bhp hybrid – from £24,225
  • 134bhp hybrid – from £28,165

Delivery Delays Push Launch Timeline

Originally slated for UK deliveries in spring 2025, the Frontera Electric’s arrival has been pushed back due to delays in production ramp-up. According to Autocar sources, customers can now expect the electric crossover to arrive later in the year, though a precise timeline has not yet been confirmed.

Final Word

With its longer range, practical pricing, and family-friendly design, the Vauxhall Frontera Electric Extended Range is poised to be a serious contender in the affordable EV segment. If it secures Electric Car Grant eligibility, it could offer even greater value — but even without the subsidy, it’s already one of the most compelling electric crossovers available under £30k.
