Speaking at the launch, Shivashankar, Managing Director of Bescom, said, “The launch of the centre is a significant milestone in delivering fast, reliable, and accessible EV services to users in Bengaluru.”

The initiative comes at a time when Bengaluru, already regarded as India’s tech capital, is witnessing a sharp rise in EV adoption. By introducing battery swapping technology, Bescom aims to address one of the biggest challenges for EV users — charging time and availability of charging stations.

How the Battery Swapping System Works

Unlike conventional EV charging stations that require anywhere between 30 minutes to several hours to recharge a battery, the new facility enables users to swap a discharged battery for a fully charged one in just two minutes.
